Dog Handling Training

Dog Handling Training is the next step after Volunteer Orientation and is required before working directly with our dogs. In this small-group session, you’ll build skills in leash handling, reading stress signals, brushing, and safe dog interactions — with hands-on practice alongside our staff.

This 90-minute session includes two parts:
Dog Walking 101 (45 min): leash skills and safe handling
Grooming Basics (45 min): brushing techniques and hands-on practice

Attend the full session or just one half, depending on your schedule. It’s also a great refresher for returning volunteers!

Before You Come
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. All materials and equipment are provided.
