Hope & Heroes
Rescue Program
Rescued dogs. Restored hope. Real connection.
The Hope & Heroes Rescue Program connects people and rescue dogs through compassion and second chances. Each dog is rescued, trained, and thoughtfully matched with an individual or family who will benefit from their companionship and care.
What Is a Companion Dog?
A companion dog is a rescued shelter dog that is paired with a person in need of a pet. The dog receives individualized training to “tune up” their skills before being placed with their new owner.
A companion dog is not a service dog. Based on each person’s needs and lifestyle, Canines for Change selects a dog that fits their home and routine. After a companion dog is chosen, a meet-and-greet is arranged before training starts, leading to the dog’s permanent placement.
Why Choose Canines for Change?
Our professional team is passionate about listening to each client’s needs and creating the right match. We maintain a rolling list of clients and Angel Sponsors who are dedicated to supporting the impact these dogs make in people’s lives.
How Can I Support This Program?
Canines for Change is looking for $2,000 Angel Sponsors to help cover the cost of training and care for each companion dog.
This donation allows our staff to:
Get to know a client
Find a suitable companion dog
Place the dog with their new family
Angel Sponsors can choose who they would like to sponsor from a list that includes first names and a brief description of each client.
If you know someone who could benefit from a companion dog, please send them our way — we are always willing to help.
