June at Canines for Change: Community, Classes & Puppy Prep
Summer is heating up—and so is the work happening at Canines for Change! From community events and volunteer spotlights to training opportunities and puppy prep, we’ve had a busy, meaningful month.
Out in the Community
This past month, we were honored to participate in several local events that helped us connect with families, supporters, and future puppy raisers while spreading awareness of our mission.
Rock Lansing 5K – Our volunteers and pups cheered on runners and shared info about our Dogs in Schools program.
Another Cluckin’ 5K – A fun community event where we met lots of new faces and potential puppy raisers.
Lansing Lugnuts Game – We threw out a first pitch and welcomed fans to our info table—thanks to everyone who stopped by!
Maranda Park Party with Priority Health – A sunny day of family fun, in partnership with one of our most valued collaborators.
USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals – Huge thanks to the Lansing Sports Commission for inviting us! Our dogs loved meeting the collegiate archers—and we were inspired by the athletes’ energy and focus.
We celebrated one of our amazing volunteers, Maggie D., launched our next Public Obedience Class, and started prepping for the arrival of two litters of goldendoodles in July.
You can also catch our Executive Director in a local feature about a new children's book designed to help kids talk about mental health.
